Marches Meadow Group AGM and Visit to High Leasowes

Saturday 16th May, 10am- 12 noon and 1-3pm pm

After the business of the AGM there will be an opportunity to walk around the High Leasowes meadows, led by Mike Carter. Bring your own picnic lunch and wear good walking boots. There is no parking at the walk meeting point – please park in the town.

Visit to Siobhan Reedy’s Meadows

Wednesday 3rd June, 2-5pm
Siobhan has been developing her meadows for ten years and her experiences are particularly useful for new meadow owners. Parking limited – please park in village or at the village hall and walk to the meadow (5 minutes).

Visit to Peter Wilson’s Meadow, Dudmaston Estate

Monday 15th June, 6.00 – 8.00 p.m.

An evening stroll led by Pete Carty around a lovely meadow created by Peter Wilson. Another visit that would be particularly useful for new meadow owners. Parking at Stanmore Farm (to be confirmed).

BCS Mower Training Workshop

Saturday 27th June 10.30am-12 noon

Gain hands-on experience with the BCS mower – an excellent tool for meadow management of small meadows or community spaces. Expert guidance provided. If demand is sufficient the workshop will be repeated in the afternoon.

Open Meadows Day

Saturday 4th July, 10am-4pm

To celebrate National Meadows Day, over 20 MMG members have agreed to open their meadows to other members and non-members for self-guided walks. Brief descriptions (including location, parking etc.) will be available in advance and more detailed information will be available at each site.

Introduction to Scything Course
Sunday 19th July, 10am-4pm

Learn the joy of scything at this one-day course run by former Natural England site manager Simon Cooter. The course will include how to set up, sharpen and use the scythe in different conditions.

Cost: £70.00 or £60.00 for MMG members.

Seed Collection Workshop

Sunday 26th July 10am-1pm

This event will include a demonstration of MMG’s seed harvester as well as various hand collection techniques. Come prepared to collect your own seed and bring a bag if you would like to take some seed away!

Members’ Question & Answer Workshop (online, via Teams)

Wednesday 21st October 7.30-9.30 pm

 A chance to have your questions answered, particularly (but not exclusively) related to meadow creation and management on lawns and fields. Be prepared to join in the discussion on Teams. We hope to start the session with some material recorded at the National Meadows Conference.

Meadow Fungi Walk

Sunday 8th November 10.30am-1pm

Meet at the Bog car park. The walk will lead through fields at Bog Cottage and/or Natural England’s Stiperstones Landscape NNR depending on where the best fungi are to be found!
