What does a MMG meadow survey offer?

The Marches Meadow Group offers a free walkover survey of meadow areas for members. Surveys are carried out by members of the group who have experience and expertise in this field.

The survey is recorded in the form of a plant species list, with notes on the abundance of species and advice on management for the meadow owner.

 

This service is also available for meadow owners who are not members, but a charge will be made depending on location and area surveyed.

Follow-up surveys are recommended for meadows that are subject to improvement, such as green hay strewing.

 

The group aims to help meadow owners become familiar with the main characteristic species in their meadows by running workshops and visits.

 

Owners will be encouraged to maintain a log of management activity on their meadows.

 

MMG will retain copies of the surveys and will map sites surveyed. MMG may make the results of meadow surveys available to other interested conservation organisations.
